Visit New Zealand - Like The Fellowship of The Ring

June 21, 2016

New Zealand is a land made of two islands, north and south in the Pacific Ocean, the capital city Wellington being in the North Island, and the currency is the NZ Dollar. The south island was where the ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ movies were filmed, so a film location tour is essential. Any holidaymaker travelling to New Zealand from India needs a valid passport, and can apply for a visa at one of the Immigration New Zealand branches in Mumbai or New Delhi, and it generally takes around 15 days to process a visa. Or you can apply for forms from immigration.govt.nz/branch/India.

The cities in both islands are modern, happening places to visit with plenty to do in the forms of some of the best restaurants in the world, great, lively bars and many art galleries and museums, many having artefacts from the indigenous Maori population, who are also known for their ferocious ‘Hakka’ war dance, made popular globally when used to intimidate the competition when playing rugby, and everyone has heard of the conquering ‘All Blacks’ rugby team. You can see plenty of evidence of Maori culture from the language and facial tattoos to ‘hangi’s ‘, which are traditional feasts.

Visit New Zealand

NZ is a genuinely beautiful country of rolling surf, jagged mountains, clear lakes and rolling green countryside and its known for having great public transport and good roads if you prefer to hire a car to see the sights of NZ and unlike its neighbour, Australia, it only has one poisonous spider, the katipo, which is so rare that it is seen as sign of good fortune to catch sight of one. The food in New Zealand is inspired by the lush South Pacific, with tasty seafood and homegrown vegetables and fruits, evidenced in dishes such as kina (sea urchin), and paua (abalone) as well as some plentiful local farmers markets if you prefer to do your own cooking. New Zealand also has some fine vineyards, scattered amongst the lakes, fields, mountains and forests, so if you enjoy hiking or water sports New Zealand is a must visit for any Indian tourist.
