The Fairy-tale Land of Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is one of the smallest and wealthiest countries globally and is situated in rugged mountain ranges high above the famous River Rhine nestled between Austria and Switzerland in Central Europe and as it is part of Europe’s Schengen Area, travellers from India to Liechtenstein just need a valid passport, spending money and a Schengen Visa which lasts for 90 days and allows you to visit 28 countries with just this visa. As well as it being almost cute in its size being only 25 kilometres long by 12 kilometres wide it is filled with glorious turreted castles straight out of The Brothers Grimm or Walt Disney. It does not have an airport but tourists to Liechtenstein can catch a bus from neighbouring Switzerland. If you love the great outdoors then you will love it here, as there are ski slopes, mountain biking and hiking trails when you go out into the Alpine countryside from the capital city Vaduz. And of course the majestic Vaduz Castle towers over the city, and there are plenty of trails around it, even though the castle itself is closed to the public as the Prince of Liechtenstein lives there, apart from on Liechtenstein’s National Day, on the 15th of August when there is a fireworks show and the Prince invites every citizen to visit for a glass of beer or wine.

Visit Liechtenstein

The country is ideal to visit at different times of the year, with colourful wildflowers blooming in spring, and autumn is the time to visit if you want to try out the local wines and fresh caught meat at some of the countries restaurants. In May everyone is encouraged to cycle for Slow Up Liechtenstein and in July they have musical Guitar Days. The closest airports are in Zurich and Friedrichshafen or you can get trains there from Switzerland if you don’t want to catch a bus. Public transport is generally good and bus stops all have timetables. So when using your European Schengen Visa why not visit Liechtenstein when travelling from India.
