Greece, otherwise known as the Hellenic Republic lies on the shores of the Mediterranean, Aegean and Ionian Seas in the South East of Europe, tourists coming to Greece from India will require an up to date passport and a Schengen Visa, from the Greek Embassy, which allows holders to travel to all European countries that have signed up to the open-borders Schengen agreement, and tourists can stay for 90 days, in one or all of the countries.

Greece is an ancient land, the home of democracy and the Olympic Games and plays host to bustling cities, historical monuments, beautiful beaches, rugged mountains such as Mount Olympus, the home of the mythic Greek Gods and exotic islands, with a real feel of the ancient world. The weather is warm and very hot in the summer months and the language spoken is Greek. The currency is the Euro and the capital city is mighty Athens, home of so many ancient myths. Greece is situated between Europe, Africa and Asia, and shares borders with Turkey, Albania and Macedonia, the home of Alexander the Great.

As well as the history of the land, the food too is famous, with fresh fish, olives and feta cheese being examples of its healthy diet, rich in olive oil. Travellers can drink bitter coffee in city cafes or go further afield to islands such as Crete, home of the ruins of Knossos, rumoured to be the palace of King Minos, of Minotaur fame, and soak up the sun on the beaches or eat a leisurely lunch in a picturesque fishing village, and feel time slow down around them, Greece is not a country to rush through, as there is so much to see and do. Greek people are renowned for their friendly natures, and visitors to Greece from India will feel welcome in this hot, ancient land, home of myths and legends.
