The River Seine flows through Paris

The River Seine flows through Paris, and it is well worth taking a boat trip down the romantic river to take in the glorious architecture of this stylish city. Other notable landmarks include the 12th Century Notre Dame Cathedral and the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre, as well as the many chic pavement cafes, where a weary tourist can sit, drink coffee with a croissant and people watch, which is a major pastime in Paris. Paris is also known the world over for its fashion and plays host to some of the most glamorous and expensive fashion houses in the world, including Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as the biannual Paris Fashion Week.

The currency in France is the Euro, and the language spoken is French, although, in major cities, people working within the service industry may speak a little English, the main religion is Roman Catholicism, but there is a sizeable Muslim population, although ultimately the country prides itself on being secular. Paris is a must see city, and even if you do not have time to see the rest of this stunning country as you are only on a short holiday from India to France a visit to the capital city is a must.
