Australia is the sixth largest country globally and home to 24 million people, known colloquially as Aussies, the main language is English and the currency is the Australian Dollar, visitors to Australia from India can apply for a tourist visa at the embassy in New Delhi, which covers you for 3,6 or 12 months depending on cost. Travellers to Australia also have to evidence that they have enough money for their holiday and return or onward flights. Australia is among one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with most of its population living in the major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and the capital city; Canberra. The country is known for its landscape, which incorporates vast beaches, rugged mountains, bush country and many national parks. The cities are renowned for being lively with many having theatre productions, love music, art galleries and music festivals, you will always find something to do at night in this country.  Australian food is a blend of European and Pacific Rim influences, with seafood and chicken and lamb being popular as well as local treats such as Emu or Crocodile steak. The country is also known for its wine, in particular, its white wines, and there are many vineyards that you can visit.

There is also wide and varied species of critters, from mammals, insects, snakes and sea life in this continent, from cuddly Koala bears, to Kangaroos, Crocodiles, Great White Sharks and some pretty scary spiders, as well as the famous Great Barrier Reef, which is the biggest coral reef in the world, and is just off the Queensland coast. Other must see places are Ayers Rock, known as Uluru to the Aboriginal people, which is a huge sandstone formation in the Northern Territory, south-west of Alice Springs and is home to ancient cave paintings and caves. A trip to Sydney’s famous Opera House is essential too, as this iconic building is now synonymous with Australia.
