Easier visa formalities for Indian tourists travelling to Taiwan than before!

Taiwan is known for its attractions that comes from the sea, lush green mountains, high-speed trains, cable cars etc… which has not only attracted Indian families, but also the film industry and other businesses with contributes to Taiwan’s tourism. 

Over 40,000 Indian visitors and tourists visited Taiwan last year and as per the trend observed by Taiwan Tourism Bureau, the count is set to increase over the period of time.

As per an expert’s opinion in International relations, the two- way traffic is set to increase between India and Taiwan which would result in Taiwanese industrial investments in India.

Shuhan Pan, International Affairs Division, Tourism Ministry of Transportation and Communications have mentioned that Taiwan is looking forward to the increase in the number of Indian families to visit Taiwan and travel agents would promote Taiwan as a locale for shooting Indian movies, corporate meetings or conferences. 

In order to encourage high-end tourist groups from Southeast Asian countries like India, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar etc… to visit Taiwan, a more simplified group visa policy announcement was made. The target of such announcement was to increase group visits to Taiwan where the visa for a group of five or more would be free of cost if the purpose of visit to Taiwan in for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE).

MICE Incentive plan for the Indian market was introduced by Taiwan in December with MICE-centric itineraries, special schemes, and performances to attract MICE groups.

Taiwan is also considered as one of the most unexplored destinations of SEA for its unique adventurous travel offerings to Indian traveler.

Pan has also mentioned that there are different categories of hotels to suit the budget of different kind of travelers from India. 

An expert in international relations said: “Taiwanese industries like electronics, auto component industries, and others are interested in settling up a production base in India. Most Indian homes have a Taiwanese product. Furthermore, Taiwanese companies are now looking at building up their own brands instead of being a contract manufacturer for others.”

Companies in Taiwan reserve some portion of internship vacancies for Indian Students as out of 3000 Indians in Taiwan, approximately 1000 are students. As a result, the bilateral relationship between India and Taiwan is expected to take off in a big way.
