Study Direct Stream- A New Program Announced by Canadian Government

In June 2018, the Canadian Government has declared a new program especially for streamlining the applications of the study permit. Recognized as the latest Study Direct Stream Program is basically ready for legal residents of a chosen number of Asian Nations. The Study Direct Stream Program is assumed to be designed to provide a quicker procession of the modified study permit applications.

Study Direct Stream Program- Eligible Countries

The students of the nations from Asian Nations like China, Philippines, India, and Vietnam are qualified for the Study Direct Stream Program. The primary qualification to be a part of this SDS program is that you have to be a legal resident of any of the specified nations. However, if you are someone who is a native of the country but residing abroad, you cannot appeal for this program. In that case, you have to appeal by the normal study permit process of application.

The earlier version of the SDS Program only enabled students from the Philippines to enjoy the benefit of the superfast application process.  For the remaining three countries, separate programs were prepared. From June 2018, all of these programs have been merged into one Study Direct Stream Program.

Study Direct Stream Program- Eligibility Criteria

To appeal for the SDS Program, one has to satisfy some eligibility criteria. Apart from being a legal and permanent resident of the countries mentioned above, the student also needs to obtain an acceptance letter from a Canadian Designated Learning Institute.

The student needs to pay the tuition fee for the initial academic year to the designated educational institution and has to present proof of the same. Above all, to assure to the Candian government that the student is financially sound enough to maintain their Canadian study cost, he should buy a Certified Investment Certificate from a Bank in Canada at the least amount of $10,000.
