Kuwait is a Place for Work, Not Migration

April 04, 2017

A conference titled “Demographic imbalances, its repercussions, and adverse effects” were put together by the public observatory body of the country of Kuwait.

It was graced by members of parliament which included Abdulkareem Al-kandri.

He said that the citizens had become second class in their nation. He stated that the conference like the one organized on behalf of expatriates was not due to the racial issues faced by them in foreign countries.

“Our focus is just regular efficiency,” the Member of Parliament said. He also stressed that the state of Kuwait is not a place for people looking to migrate into the country like other nations in Europe, as it is a very wealthy nation not looking foreigners to stay but to work.

He said that around 70% of the population of the country are very young people, unlike most nations in Europe.

He also pointed out that the population issue is not unique to just foreign workers, but also lies in the inability of the government to effectively watch the figures and the stress they eventually contribute to the nation.

“The truth is that around 24% of all employment opportunities in the government are filled by foreign workers, while we have 17,000 nationals in the country who have no job,” he said.

He also stated that foreign workers also make up around 71% of the private business in the nation.

Senator Abdulkareem also stated that due to the inability of the government to provide competent means of transportation, a lot of foreign workers prefer to procure their driver’s license so they can move around comfortably in their cars and that leads to congestion on the streets.
