India & Canada Visa Concern for Business

The country of India has made known its worries over the alterations made by the Canadian government in its temporary immigration employees scheme which makes it almost impossible for domestic firms to send workers to their branches in Canada on a temporary visa, thereby impacting on business and services.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sitharaman Mirmala had initially expressed worries over the matter when some workers from the Canadian government visited the country of India to reassure them of various moves to take to make the migration of skilled labor seamless and secure.

The matter was discussed a day ago in the country during an encounter with the Minister of Commerce and industry and Canada’s minister of international trade Champagne Francois-Phillippe. “She addressed the issue of the importance of comfort in the migration of workers within companies on temporary visa stays on certain important and specific objectives,” Sitharaman told newsmen in a statement earlier in the day.

Giving working examples of such situations, Sitharaman Mirmala said that a handful of firms in the country had significant investments in the country of Canada, and were finding it increasingly hard to get their hands on essential workers from India transferred within the company.

Her Canadian counterpart reassured the country that a series of strategies were put in place to augment the comfort of moving employees seamlessly into the country. That was made known in a press release distributed to journalists.

The Canadian minister also said that under the world talent initiative, application for permits for highly talented workers, technical professionals, teachers, and researchers would be cleared in around two weeks. In the same vein, experts who are coming into the country of Canada and hoping to stay for less than a year are eligible to apply for a quick paced visa application scheme.

The project is being created in a concierge-like manner, the Minister said in a statement made known to journalists. She also added that it had the extra benefits of being extended on a permanent basis for firms who had significant investments in Canada.

The Ministers both concurred to hasten the completion of the mutual investment advancement and security agreement and also the Encompassing commercial agreement.

Both nations are deliberating over the business transaction, via which taxes will be removed or significantly reduced on the importation of goods asides lessen the criterion for services and sponsor investments from November 2010.
