India and China Received 82% of U.S. H-1B visas Last Year

April 15, 2017

Statistics released by the United States migration department has said the countries of China and India had gotten around 82% of all H-1B permits given in the year 2016.

These permits are reserved for really talented employees who get employed in areas that require technically gifted persons, like in tech, in the United States.

The rate increased a little from what was obtainable from the year before when both nations accrued about 80% of the entire allocations thereby strengthening the relationship between the technological firms and international workers.

Having a significant portion of these permits translates into both nations being at high risk of being affected by the new policies put in place by the current president of the United States’ administration.

Technological firms from India have seen their stock prices plummet in recent weeks as they are heavily reliant on the movement of Indian workers into the United States for employment. Indigenous companies like Facebook and Google are also reliant on foreign workers for their business.
