Visiting Oslo in Norway- What You Need to Know

If you want to visit a beautiful Scandinavian city then Oslo in Norway is a great option to get a taste of Nordic culture. If you are an EU citizen then you do not need a visa but if you are applying from India then you have to pay an application fee and check with the embassy that you have all the correct documentation and have a passport that is valid for a minimum of three months after the end of your vacation. Visitors must also have travel insurance and enough money to cover their holiday in Norway or have a friend or family member who lives there already who can support you financially.

Visit Norway

Norway is known for its cold weather, icy fjords and of course for its history of fierce Vikings but Oslo is famous for being a very green city, with trees and parks everywhere, and has been compared to the Nederlands for the amount of cyclists on the streets. The city, which was founded in 1040, has some fantastic art galleries and museums, including the Vikingskipshuset Museum, which has actual reconstructed longboats as used by the Vikings. The city itself is a romantic place to wander around and has a vibrant café and bar culture as well as a well-integrated immigrant community who have added to the variety of restaurants in the city, you can eat everything from falafel to smoked salmon, mutton stew, and spicy curry. There are plenty of sports activities in the area including skiing, sailing and mountain biking for those who like thrills when on holiday. Oslo is a great base if you want to explore other parts of Norway and while it is not a cheap city to visit, there is plenty to do while you are there and the people are known to be very friendly.
