Qatar's Visa on arrival facility to be introduced for China, India, and Russia

The Qatar Airways head announced to introduce visa on arrival facility in a couple of week’s time for nationals of India, China, and Russia.


The new permit system will expedite the application process and allow the travelers visiting Qatar without any problem. The Arab country is pushing to lure more number of international travelers.


The tourism industry received very less number of tourists during the first half of the year. The numbers of visitors has decreased by 6 percent over the same period during 2015. Qatar has taken up the initiative to attract seven million tourists by 2030.


Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar’s national flag carrier,  launched an overhauled system for people visiting the country to apply for a visa before arrival.

He said, by the first half of 2017, the online application system will be introduced that will allow the end users to track and receive their visa within 2 working days.


Al Baker said, “The state of Qatar is finalizing agreements to allow citizens of Russia, China, and India to arrive at the airport to get visa on arrival,”


“The Ministry of Interior is putting the processes in place – it needs the IT infrastructure. They are aggressively working on it. It will come in weeks, not months.”


The MOI will give further details of the new visa rules “soon”, he added.


Soon the world’s most populous countries, India, China and Russia will join the list of 38 countries which avail Qatar’s visa on arrival facility at Hamad International Airport (HIA).
